| HAMMER TAKES FIRST 2003 PWBA TOUR TITLE |
| Tuesday, 07/15/2003 |
HOPKINSVILLE,
Kent. – Tennelle Milligan was in a league of her own in the final
matches of the Greater Memphis Open (Winchester Bowl, July 6). Using
Hammer’s Diesel Particle and Diesel Reactive Pearl, Milligan, the lone
right-hander of the finals, defeated Cara Honeychurch 205-203 and gave
Hammer Bowling its first 2003 PWBA Tour victory.
“Cara’s a fighter and if I had relaxed for even one shot, she would
have been on my back,” said Milligan. “I just put my game face on and
depended on the Diesel Particle and Diesel Reactive Pearl to give me
predictable, consistent shots.”
Milligan’s road to victory was not an easy one. She needed a 214-213
decision over Carol Gianotti-Block in the 40th preliminary game on
Saturday, July 5th, to secure a spot on the televised finals. On
Sunday’s finals, Milligan defeated Tiffany Stanbrough, Tish Johnson,
Dede Davidson and lastly, Cara Honeychurch, and took home $15,000 for
her efforts.
Called “Ten Pen” by her peers, Milligan is in her fourth year on Tour
and has captured three national victories: 2000 U.S. Open, 2000 Players
Championship and the 2003 Greater Memphis Open. A former member of Team
USA’s national team, 26-year-old Milligan has been bowling since age
three. Milligan has traveled with Hammer pro staffer Kendra Gaines for
2 and a half years and her husband, Jason, bowls on Hammer Bowling’s
regional staff.
