CASTILLO/PLUHOWSKY TEAM DOMINATES PBA WEST REGION EBONITE SOUTH POINT MIXED DOUBLES EVENT

Staff players Dino Castillo and Shannon Pluhowsky broke records in the PBA West Region Ebonite South Point Mixed Doubles at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas and took the title on Sunday, July 29, by 34 pins.

During the event, the pair combined for a score of 1,647, setting a mixed doubles series USBC record (pending USBC approval). Pluhowsky’s series was 824 and Castillo’s was 823.

According to Castillo, he and Pluhowsky were the epitome of teamwork.

“When I was down, she was there to help me out,” Castillo explained. “When she was down… I don’t think she was ever down… but when she shot less than 250, I was there for her!”

Pluhowsky depended on the Hammer Jigsaw, which gave her a great reaction on the lanes throughout the event. The Jigsaw has frequently been Pluhowsky’s equipment of choice.

For Castillo, the Ebonite Innovate gave him what he needed.

“That ball might be the next best thing since sliced bread,” he added. “I have finished third, third and now first in tournaments with that ball. The Innovate is really good.”

Both bowlers would like to thank everyone who supported them throughout the event, both in person and online.

“Shannon did a great job, and we’re proud of the job she and Castillo did,” said Jeff Ussery, Hammer Brand Manager. “You’re going to see more success from them with the great equipment we’ve got this year.”
