HAMMER SLAMS OUT PERFECT 900 SCORE

08/16/2004

HOPKINSVILLE, Kent.  Read it and weep. A Hammer ball has taken 22-year-old Jeff Campbell to an ABC sanctioned 900 series.

Jeff is an accomplished young bowler with a very bright future in the sport and we hope our equipment continues to help him set records, said Brian Graham, brand manager for Hammer.

Originally, the situation in which Campbell rolled the scores was in question because he didn’t bowl the games under league conditions. Campbell was unable to make the scheduled league play with his team members Monday, July 26th at Shenango Bowlaway and per league bylaws, was pre-bowling his scores and planned to submit them. He was virtually alone at Colonial Lanes, Pittsburgh, on Friday, July 23rd when he just couldn’t keep the strikes from coming.

Bowling a 900 series was a feeling I’ve never experienced, said Campbell. No matter what I did I knew I would strike and I had built up my confidence level.

Campbell, whose previous high series was 847, reported his scores to the secretary of the Shenango Doubles League, printed off his scores and sent them to the ABC. He also talked with ABC officials a number of times. On August 13, he received word that the ABC accepted his performance, saving him a place in bowling’s record books. Only 22 years of age, Campbell is a native of New Castle and will attend West Texas A & M this fall. After college, he plans to pursue a career on the pro circuit.

Hammer Bowling is a division of Ebonite International, Inc, a privately-owned company that currently services bowling centers, distributors and retail outlets both domestically and internationally, based in Hopkinsville, Kent.
