HAMMER NEWSHAMMER-TNBA RELATIONSHIP STRONG AT REGIONAL EVENTS12/29/2011
The month of November saw four successful TNBA Regional events throughout the United States, and Hammer was there at every one. Hammer’s commitment to TNBA began in 2008, when it signed its first sponsorship contract with The National Bowling Association. In 2010, the partnership agreement was extended through the 2012-2013 season. TNBA is an association of over 37,500 members of men, women and youth bowlers. Founded in 1939 by African Americans, the association is currently open to all competitive bowlers, and its goal is to be a “Promoter of Sportsmanship, Fellowship and Friendship,” as its slogan states. Part of this goal is achieved through the four Regional events hosted by TNBA. The nation is divided into four regions, Western, Central, Eastern and Southern, and each region hosts a handicap event that includes Team, Doubles, Singles and All-Events, in Men, Women’s, Senior and Mixed divisions. These tournaments are a just a part of TNBA’s rich history, and while each Region’s event has been around for differing periods of time, 2011 was the 51st year the TNBA Eastern Regional was held. Since the beginning of its partnership with TNBA, Hammer bowling has had staff on-site at most tournaments to discuss the latest products from Hammer bowling, and to give tips and advice where needed. “We worked hard the last three years to provide staff members at all of the TNBA’s National events to educate the bowlers there about our products and how the products fit with their individual games,” said Jeff Ussery, Hammer Brand Manager. “When bowlers become better and more knowledgeable about our sport, they are more likely to keep bowling. Frankly, they also bowl better with our products.” This year, they took the commitment a bit further by hosting a Hammer Demo at three of the Regional events, where bowlers could ‘Demo’ or try out some of the Hammer equipment as a side event. Bowlers who tried the equipment received advice and recommendations on which equipment would work best for them. “We wanted bowlers to experience our products and get a level of service that they’ve never seen,” said Jeff Ussery, Hammer Brand Manager. “Many of the bowlers have never attended a product demo and were surprised to find out they could test stuff out before purchase.” A complete list of winners for each of the Regional Handicap Tournaments can be found at here. TNBA will host a variety of Scratch tournaments throughout the Regions, beginning with the TNBA Reed-Hawthorne Classic in Ohio in February, and continuing with the Regional “Bill Rhodman” Singles Classic events held throughout the nation in March. The year will wrap up with the TNBA National Tournament in Indianapolis in May 2012. This year’s National Tournament expects to hand out over $250,000 in prize money to participants. Hammer will have a presence at all of these events as well, to continue the work they’ve done in the past, educating the bowlers and enhancing their tournament experience. All of the TNBA Regional and National tournaments are open to all 2011-2012 TNBA members who have bowled the required number of games during the 2011-2012 season in a TNBA-certified league. Contact TNBA for more specific information on these events or TNBA membership. « Go Back ----------------------
