HAMMER TOUR VETERAN AWARDED HIGH HONOR BY PBA
07/06/2008
HOPKINSVILLE, Kent. – Three-year Hammer staffer and 19-year Tour veteran Doug Kent has been named one of the 50 Greatest Players in PBA History.
“I was so surprised to hear this. It’s just one of those things you don’t know about or expect to happen,” said Kent. “You just bowl your career and experiences like this turn out to be the highlights.”
Kent owns 10 career PBA Tour titles, six standard and four Majors. He won one title apiece in eight different years and two, the USBC Masters and World Championship, in the 2006-2007 season. As the ninth player ever to win two Major titles in one season, he was named the PBA Player of the Year in 2007. In addition to participating on the Tour, the Newark, N.J. resident owns two bowling centers with his wife, Chrissie.
Later this summer, the selection committee will rank all the players on the list 1 – 50. The final rankings will be announced throughout the bowling season on ESPN’s Sunday afternoon telecasts from October – April. Kent is listed among bowling legends like Don Carter, Earl Anthony and Mike Aulby.
