HAMMER NEWSHAMMER’S NEW HP BALL – EVEN THE NAME IS TABOO09/01/2011
In naming Hammer’s newest high performance ball, why would Hammer follow industry conventions and come up with a different name? They wouldn’t. Instead, the new ball will be named the same as the old one – Taboo - the highest selling Hammer ball in recent history. “It’s easy to get caught up in all the naming drama with Complete this, Total that, and all the other adjectives we’ve used in the past,” explained Jeff Ussery, Hammer Brand Manager. “What’s wrong with just sticking with a series name and building on that brand equity? Nothing.” Instead, the new Taboo will be distinguished from the original Taboo by its color, Dark Electric Blue/Silver. “The new Taboo uses one of the covers we targeted in research testing as an exceptional performer,” said Ussery. “Grand Theft Reactive II (GTRII) Pearl builds off of the original Taboo GTR cover and gives this intro more mid-lane friction and overall hook. Bowlers will see two to four more boards of hook out of the Dark Electric Blue/Silver Taboo. A monster on oily lane conditions, the new Taboo will be the first ball out of the bag on fresh conditions.” The finish on the new Taboo is also unique. Beginning with 800 Abranet®, and followed by 1000, 2000 and 3000 grit Abralon® pads, the new Taboo is the first Hammer ball that’s finished with 3000 grit. This gives the ball a little more texture than one finished with 4000, without the early grab of a 2000 finish. As a special offer to Hammer’s loyal fan base, anyone who purchases a Taboo Dark Electric Blue/Silver can send in a coupon to Hammer in exchange for a Hammer Taboo Spare, in bright red, blue and yellow. As would be expected with Hammer, this isn’t just any spare ball. Hammer took the Taboo core, and wrapped a polyester cover around it. For the first time ever, Hammer has built a .060 differential polyester ball, to add some fun and a little bit of versatility to a spare ball. And best of all, this ball isn’t available anywhere else. Coupons will be available in national bowling magazines and local pro shops, and is only offered within the continental US, limit one per customer. The new Taboo will be available through Hammer pro shop partners on September 29, 2011, in 12-16 lbs. — Hammer Bowling Balls & Bowling Equipment -Based in Hopkinsville, Kent., Ebonite International is a privately-owned company that currently services bowling centers, distributors and retail outlets both domestically and internationally.
