PAVLINKO WINS PBA50 MIL-RAY FOODS EASTERN OPEN

Cherry Hill, N.J. (July 28, 2013) – Steve Pavlinko of Sewell, N.J., defeated George Tignor of Winchendon, Mass., 213-161, to win the PBA50 Mil-Ray Foods Eastern Open presented by Roto Grip at Playdrome Cherry Hill Sunday.
Pavlinko, who turned 50 last October, led qualifying by 119 pins. His greatest challenge came in the round of eight against defending champion John Conroy of Mahopac, N.Y. Conroy won the first game in the best-of-three-game elimination round, but Pavlinko rallied to win the final two games on his way to his sixth PBA Regional title. The win also was his second consecutive PBA50 title and he earned $1,500. Tignor, who was also runner-up in last year’s Mil-Ray event, earned $875.
Pavlinko defeated Glenn Morgan Smith of New York, 253-173, and Tignor defeated Ernie Segura Jr. of Taylor, Mich., 211-191, in the semifinal round. Smith and Segura each earned $700 as semifinal round losers.
The next event on the PBA East schedule is the Bowlers Supply/Storm Eastern Open at Colony Park Lanes North in York, Pa. August 9-11.
