THE 11TH FRAME: JUNIOR HALL OF FAME TOURNEY AWARDS $10,000 IN SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

The sixth annual Hammer Junior Hall of Fame Tournament drew 96 teams, up from 72 a year ago, and awarded $10,000 in scholarship funds, nearly double a year ago, on Sunday at AMF Bowlero, tournament organizer Shannon Labinski reported.

Each team consisted of an adult Hall of Fame member or celebrity and two youth bowlers.

Think about what that means: 292 bowlers. What an amazing event!

Highlights of the event included Andy Mills’ 804 series in qualifying, the first 800 in the history of the event, and Paul Bober’s perfect game, the first since Dave Beres’ 300 in the first event in 2007, Labinski reported.

The winning team was adult Joe Alivo and juniors Adam Wrycha and Sean Looby. The won $1,500 and Hammer Arson Pearl bowling balls.

The second place team was adult Roger Dalkin and juniors Jacob Schwefel and Tyler Tschetter. They earned $900 and Hammer Brick balls.

The third place team was adult Dale Traber and juniors Charlie Fischer and Dylan Haertl. They won $750 and Hammer 3-ball rolling bags.

The fourth place team was adult Michael James and and juniors Armando Astemborski and Yair Macagon. They earned $600 and Hammer bags

The remainder of the standings are at the end of this blog.

The event was sponsored by Hammer Bowling, the Greater Milwaukee Bowling Association, Milwaukee Women’s Bowling Association, Milwaukee Men’s Hall of Fame, Milwaukee Women’s Hall of Fame, AMF Bowlero, Pepsi, Cliff Barnes Pro Shops, Chris Hoffmann Photography and many local businesses.

“I was truly impressed by the amount of youth talent we had competing and I am excited about where the sport is headed with the many positive role models we have within bowling here in the Midwest!” Labinski said in her news release. “Five out of the six JHOFT champion teams have been led by Hall of Fame members. We have a lot of young talented adults bowling in this event, but there is something to be said about the experience the Hall of Fame members bring to this team atmosphere.”

Next year’s event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 10 at AMF Bowlero.
