ABOUT EARL ANTHONY
Widely regarded as the best bowler of his era, Anthony won 43 Tour titles which ranks second behind Walter Ray Williams Jr. He held the record for more than 30 years until Williams broke it. Anthony won multiple titles in nine seasons and captured record 10 Major titles including three straight PBA National Championships, from 1973-75 and 1981-83. He was a six-time Player of the Year Award winner (1974-76 and 1981-83) and a five-time George Young High Average Award winner (1973-75, '80, '83). Anthony was the first player to earn $100,000 in a season and finished his career with $1,441,061 in PBA winnings. Anthony also won three straight Sporting News PBA Player of the Year awards between 1974-76. In 1981, he participated in 32 tournaments, qualifying for the nationally televised finals in 15 events still tied for the Tour record.
