Onyx Vibe

The iconic Vibe line made its return with the Blue and Cherry Vibe. The Cherry was designed to go long and flip where the Blue was designed to give more mid lane with a controlled backend. Now, we are bringing back the popular Onyx Vibe to give you the mid lane of the Blue Vibe, with the backend motion of the Cherry.

Updated with Hammer’s patent-pending carbon fiber outer core, this Vibe carries Hammer’s three-year warranty.

My favorite Vibe

Hey Y'all..... Stefanie Johnson here. I have to say out of the VIBE series, this one is my favorite.
I have primarily used it on lighter to medium patterns when I like to play the lanes straighter. Certainly allows me to keep my angles closed yet still finish through the pins.
Great addition to your arsenal if you are looking for something like that!

Feel the Vibe!

For me, this ball is in my bag when I am bowling tournaments with long formats and shorter patterns. It is really clean through the from with a smooth arcing motion in the back part of the lane. Even though it is smooth there is great energy at the pocket. I drilled mine PIN down without an extra hole. This one is the smoothest of the Vibes available at the time of this review. You can beat the price point of the Vibes.

Smoothness Black Onyx Vibe

Drilled my Onyx Vibe and I was not disappointed. This ball is perfect for when the lanes start to burn. It has a great cover for getting through the front of the lane easily and retains energy for a smooth transition downlane with no quit. This ball is a great league ball or late in the day tournament ball. It created the shape I was looking for on the high friction lane surfaces that are common here in South Florida. Don’t miss out on this low price, high performing winner.

Onyx Vibe

The Onyx Vibe has been a very good ball for me in the later rounds of qualifying and on the burn. It gets thru the front extremely clean and has good continuation down lane.

Onyx Vibe-

Here is my take on the new Hammer Onyx Vibe. The new Onyx Vibe features the ever versatile Vibe “hourglass” shaped core wrapped about a black sparkle CT Reactive Max coverstock. Like all Hammers, the Onyx Vibe features an industry leading 3 year warranty in its Carbon Fiber manufacturing process. The ball comes with a 2000 Abralon polished surface.
I have tried the new Onyx Vibe on THS, Roth Sport and Shark Sport.
At the outset, it is clear that each of the current Vibes as its own unique motion. The Cherry is definitely the most angular. In my opinion, the Blue is good on a variety of patterns as it is strong yet controllable. The Onyx shows similar control as we see in the Blue but I think with the ability to go a little more left to right. Even without a weight hole, I can play straighter on the longer Roth and Shark patterns to start but I am also able to go a little more left to right with the Onyx as the first transition occurs. I would describe the motion on the Onyx as a very strong, defined hook. The stated purpose by Hammer that the Onyx offers the recovery of the Cherry with the length of the Blue does seem to be accurate.
Like with the any Vibe, because of the versatility of the core, many shapes cane be drilled into the ball and should suit a number of styles. I can see this ball in play on a number of different patterns depending on ball speed. I believe that the Onyx can handle a variety of pattern volumes given the cover strength.
