Axe - Black / Smoke

I drilled a Hammer Axe. It is a 3 piece ball (not 3 piece pancake) with a "low friction reactive" cover. I put it on the Haus machine and let it run for one minute on the diamond cutters. I have thrown this on slightly used THS. In that this was a 3 piece ball, I used the same layout as I do on my spare ball, 5/8th positive and 3/4 thumb.

I can also see why this can be an effective alternative to urethane or other slow absorption balls. The Axe, at this surface, reads very early and makes a very gradual move to the pocket. It does provide that very slow response, control type of motion that urethane offers. The photo shows, as expected, how little track flare there is. I will want to do a little compare and contrast against the new Purple Hammer 78D and an original Purple Hammer to see the exact differences. One thing, in all honesty, that I did notice and this is probably a function of 3 piece low friction reactive v. 2 piece urethane as well as being older with a declining rev rate, the ball definitely is "quieter" going through the pins and doesn't get the light off hits as effectively. Personally speaking, for me to get the Axe to work, I need to be higher on the headpin in order to see effective and consistent carry.

And they call this a spare ball LOL Put 2k or 3k on the surface and rev it up the outside. This ball retains energy and has absolute control. Out to the friction too soon, and it doesn't overhook through the face. Pull it inside a bit, and it holds pocket. Who needs a thane when you got this?? Was throwing low dueces out of the box. Took a wet 2k to it, and now popping out 220s in my sleep with this ball.

I have high tilt and around a 500 rev rate. Our local center just installed string pins, and I got tired of swinging the lane and leaving washouts or splits when I missed with too much entry angle. My pro shop suggested the Hammer Axe and it has been a game changer.

The last 12 games on string pins, and a normal house shot, I’m averaging 218 with a 737 set and a 13‑bagger between games. Zero Brooklyns, only 4 splits. I hit the surface with 3000 and just rip it straight up the boards—only one ball needed all night.

Hammer, keep making this ball! Or better yet, add a solid with the same Bullet core called the “Battle Axe” just for big‑hand degenerates like me.

I have two of them and I use them in bowling league they work great I have scored 500 series and sometimes a 600 series with it the 170s 220 scores unbelievable highly recommend this ball for beginner bowler are for recreational bowling

Good and bad....Good: When lanes are dry it's a cheat code for a strike ball. Very durable and easy to polish.

Bad: Problem is I need a SPARE BALL and my high revs and this coverstock are a no-no. Ball will hook even in the miid lane and frustrate the hell outta you. Get a plastic ball if you ball no thumb.
