Shawn Maldonado, Haley Richard Sign With Hammer
Hammer's pro staff, already strong, has grown in the off-season with the signing of Shawn Maldonado and Haley Richard who will compete on the Professional Bowlers Association and Professional Women's Bowling Association tours respectively.
Maldonado is a two-handed righty who is the 2014 and 2015 PBA Southwest Region player of the year and has six television appearances in his career.
Richard was a member of the Arkansas State women's bowling team and is a two-time collegiate All-American and former Junior Team USA member.
"With the amount of success Hammer has experienced on the professional tours in the past year, we wanted to take steps to ensure those winning ways," said Rob Gotchall - manager, players and performance. "Player acquisition in the off season is a key part of that."
"Shawn (Maldonado) brings the exctiment of a two-handed style to the brand and Haley (Richard) will team up with her sister (Jordan Richard) on the PWBA tour," Gotchall said.
"It should make for a lot of great bowling on both tours," he said.
Maldonado joins Hammer veteran Bill O'Neill, who recently extended his contract with Hammer for another three years, Mike Wolfe, Tom Daugherty and Patrick Girard for the 2019 PBA campaign. When combined, this team accounts for 15 PBA standard titles and one major.
Also joining the Hammer staff for the 2019 campaign are Nick Kruml and AJ Rice. Rice is a two-handed lefty and has been a major star in recent amateur events.
On the women's side, Richard will find herself in great company as well. She will be joining 2018 PWBA player-of-the-year and USBC Queens Champion Shannon O'Keefe, her sister Jordan Richard (PWBA rookie-of-the-year), Stefanie Johnson, Shannon Pluhowsky, Erin McCarthy, Amanda Greene, Tannya Roumimper, Megan Kelly and Giselle Poss as they seek to continue the dominance show by #TeamEBI women in 2018.
