After a 6 year vacation, I am back with a new set of toys for a new set of USBC rules. Started with the Black Widow 2.0. Rolled a 300 with it already this year, so why want another ball? Because truly the slogan is not a joke, nothing hits like a Hammer. Started my season with that and a Roto-grip RST. On paper “close” to the same ball, except in play they are not. I now have a lineup of 8 balls because this beauty was sitting on the shelf while picking up the Obsession that I had waited for. Out of the box this ball is absolutely perfect. So good my buddy got one as well, also having the Black Widow as his first new ball in 15 years. We go roll to try them out and each blow out 700+ series on the 2022 USBC city tourney patterns (lanes oiled for this as it was going on this weekend) just testing out what we purchased. I have a 209 average where he holds a 164. This is just a great ball, I threw it at least 7 different ways and it always comes back to nail the pocket so well that even when it’s off it creates the pin action to put 10 in the pit. It was a literal tough call on which ball I was more happy with. This hybrid cover stock is perfect. You can’t go wrong with this ball in your bag. I throw 19mph and my buddy throws 13.5. Pin action is the same, ball reaction is the same. I’ve converted 7 other bowlers to getting Hammer balls this year and each one has not gone back to their previous ball as they’ve raised their average and confidence with Hammer.
