Had no idea what this was going to do when hammer announced it, but I'm glad I got a couple to drill up.
The first one I drilled 55 x 4 3/4 x 30, typical drill pattern on new stuff, and it was very controllable, smooth and predictable. Could never really get it to achieve the motion I thought I was going to get, but it ended up being a benchmark ball In one of my league houses that allowed me to get a read on how the lanes were playing that night.
Fast forward to ball # 2, ended up going with a longer drill pattern, 75 x 5 x 30, and kept surface on it. It read the mids and finished strong, finally the motion I saw a lot of other people getting in their reviews. Im glad I got a second to drill differently, as a small switch to longer angles and surface really helped me get comfortable with this ball and use it more and more each league night. As they have said before, definitely a sleeper type ball!
With the higher RG I decided to try a 60x 5 x 35 drilling. When I first went to test this ball, no kidding it hooked!!, I mean t hooked!!! When it got a little lane shine this ball mellowed out to be one of my all time favorite Hammer bowling balls. With the higher RG it clears the fronts with ease, then the core takes over and it continues off the back. Do not overlook this gem!
The Hammer Infamous provides a hard arcing reaction on medium to heavy lanes. This reaction is suitable for those bowlers looking for a benchmark type roll. This ball provides good length with end over end movement. I see this ball blending out wet/dry due the cover setup of 500,1000,2000 finish. This one provides optimal hitting power while saving energy at the right spot.
Many people will sleep on this ball, but I'm glad I didn't. This ball got me my first 300 game. I have had 299 twice, but this ball gave me my first and an 845 series. I shot a 760 with this ball roughly a week later after the 845 series. For me being a lower rev male player (200-250 rpm), this ball has done wonders for me. I drilled it with the pin slightly right of my ring finger and the cg indicator in the center of my hand. The core-coverstock combo is amazing. The cover is fairly strong, which is great for lower rev players by helping the ball to read, but the core with it being higher RG and a good differential helps it get length and keep its backend motion without burning up too soon. This allows a smooth reaction with great hitting power and continuation, with no over-under reaction. I recently resurfaced the ball at 360/2000 and it responded great to the surface adjustment and helped me shoot that 760 series a week later. This tells me it responds great to surface adjustments and is versatile. Was able to play multiple angles with this ball with great continuation.
For a comparison ball I have the Storm Hy-Road drilled similarly, and for me it worked off that ball very well. For me, the Infamous was earlier and 2 more boards in strength for me, while the Hy-Road was a little cleaner and a great transition piece after 2-3 games.
Hammer, do a Storm bowling by keeping this ball in production for years to come! Thank you for such an amazing product!
Not what else to say about this ball. It’s the best ball in my bags right now. It’s darn near tempting to buy a second, just incase something happens to this one.
